Social responsibility

MY THOUGHTS ON ART, ARTISTS, AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY.

Art is subjective, it can be interpreted differently from person to person. There are no rules, guidelines, or format to how an artist chooses to express him/her selves or methods used in doing so.

Social responsibility is an ethical theory that an entity, be it an organization or individual has an obligation to act to benefit society at large.

Every expression of art CANNOT BE POSITIVE. Being that most of the time an artists draws from His/her own experiences or knowledge of. This world is not a pretty place and negative things do happen.

To say an artists has to censor his/her methods of express because of negative content will be contamination to the art form in which that person uses. It will not be his/her truth.

So, if someone curses in a poem, shows nudity in a drawing, or show war like devastation in a photograph, it is still ART even in a negative light.

So I said all that to say this it is NOT the responsibility of the artists to sugarcoat things as such to where his/her art form is not true to the person creating it.

No I do not believe in censorship, I do believe in the power for people to determine for themselves what is or isn't right for them. What is right or isn't right for their children and families.

instead of censoring stuff...monitor what you kids intake through their gate ways(eyes, ears, nose, mouth) teach them, what is real and what isn't. Fact from fantasy. Allow stuff which is age appropriate at the right stages of their lives.

Allowing your child to only view positive things is only doing them a disservice and functioning in life as they find out the evils of the world too late will only do more harm than good.

So do I think artists should be made to be responsible their reception of the art they see...my answer is, "No"
